What Is Chakra Healing? Understanding the Chakras and Energy Balance
By Dr. Shahrzad, Pranic Healing practitioner · · 8 min read

Most people come to Chakra Healing when something in their life is not flowing as they would like. Feeling emotionally drained or mentally overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, short of confidence, unable to say what you mean — or simply curious whether your energy has anything to do with how you have been feeling.
Chakra Healing is an energy-based approach centred on the body's energy centres, the chakras, and their relationship with the wider energy body or aura. At Ellviour it is approached through the principles of Pranic Healing: assessing the energetic condition of the aura and chakras, cleansing accumulated or congested energy, and energising areas that appear depleted, to support greater balance across the energy field.
What is Chakra Healing?
In the Pranic Healing tradition, a person is understood to have not only a physical body but an energy body — often called the aura, or the bioplasmic body. The chakras are understood to process, distribute and regulate energy throughout that system.
Just as the physical body passes through different conditions, so may the energy body. From a Pranic Healing perspective, a chakra may be found in conditions such as:
- Accumulated or dirty energy
- Congested energy
- Depleted energy
- Excessive or imbalanced energy
A session works on those conditions with the appropriate techniques. Depending on what the person needs, a practitioner may cleanse accumulated energy, reduce congestion, improve depleted areas, and project fresh prana into selected parts of the energy body — with the intention of supporting a healthier, more balanced flow.
Understanding the chakras in Pranic Healing
The Pranic Healing system recognises eleven major chakras, each understood to have its own functions and its own relationships with the physical body, with emotional experience, with mental activity and with overall energetic wellbeing. That is a more extensive system than the one usually presented in general wellness writing.
Ellviour's free Chakra Assessment focuses on seven of them — enough to help someone explore patterns in their emotional, mental and energetic wellbeing without turning a reflection tool into a training course. It is designed as exactly that: a wellness reflection tool. It does not diagnose medical or psychological conditions.
The seven chakra areas in the wellness assessment
Basic Chakra
Grounding, stability, physical vitality and a sense of security.
People often explore this area when they feel unsettled, or when concerns about safety, security or simply feeling grounded keep returning.
Sacral Chakra
Creativity, emotional expression, pleasure and relationships.
Emotional sensitivity, a creative block, or recurring difficulty in close relationships can lead someone to look here.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Personal power, confidence, motivation and the processing of emotion.
Often explored when someone feels emotionally overwhelmed, short of confidence, or caught in an emotional pattern that will not settle. From a Pranic Healing perspective, difficult emotions may leave accumulated energy in the aura and chakras, and cleansing that area is usually where the work begins.
Heart Chakra
Love, compassion, emotional connection and relationships.
People working through forgiveness, closeness, grief or the wish to feel more connected often come to this area.
Throat Chakra
Communication, self-expression, and putting thoughts and feelings into words.
Chakra Healing does not assume that difficulty speaking up is caused by a chakra. It offers an energetic perspective alongside self-reflection and personal development, not instead of them.
Ajna Chakra
Awareness, insight, mental clarity and seeing a situation whole.
Explored when someone feels mentally scattered, unfocused, or unsure of their direction.
Crown Chakra
Higher awareness, inner stillness and spiritual connection.
For some people this forms part of a longer path of meditation and self-awareness. Spiritual exploration is meant to complement personal responsibility and professional care, never to replace them.
What does it mean when a chakra is “out of balance”?
The phrase gets used loosely online. We prefer to describe the energetic condition more carefully: congestion, an accumulation of dirty or negative energy, depletion, excessive activity, or an imbalance in relation to the wider energy system. These are energetic concepts, and they should not be confused with medical diagnoses.
Feeling stressed, sad or tired does not automatically mean a particular chakra is “blocked”. Human wellbeing is shaped by a great many things:
- Physical health
- Sleep
- Relationships
- Work and environment
- Emotional experiences
- Stress
- Lifestyle
- Personal beliefs
- Medical conditions
Energy healing offers one additional perspective for exploring wellbeing. It is not the only one, and it is not a substitute for the others.
How Chakra Healing works in Pranic Healing
A session usually begins with scanning — assessing the person's energy field to read the energetic condition of different areas. What that assessment finds decides what follows:
Cleansing accumulated energy
The aura and chakras may be cleansed to help remove accumulated, dirty or negative energy, and to address areas of energetic congestion.
Improving depleted conditions
Some areas of the energy body may appear depleted. Techniques are used to help improve those conditions by projecting fresh prana into them.
Energising selected chakras
Fresh prana may be projected into appropriate chakras or areas of the energy body to support improved energetic conditions.
Supporting overall balance
The intention across all of it is to improve the energetic condition and balance of the energy body as a whole.
Pranic Healing is largely a no-touch practice. For most techniques the practitioner works in the person's energy field rather than on the body itself.
Chakra Healing, emotional wellbeing and mental clarity
Stress, anger, fear and grief shape how we think, feel and respond. From the Pranic Healing perspective, difficult emotions may also be associated with accumulated or congested energy in parts of the aura and chakras, and cleansing that energy is intended to support a clearer and lighter energetic state.
People use Chakra Healing this way as part of a wider approach to emotional wellbeing, stress, self-awareness, meditation and personal growth. It is not psychotherapy and not a replacement for professional mental-health care. Anyone experiencing serious emotional distress, trauma or thoughts of suicide should seek support from a qualified mental-health professional or an emergency service.
Chakra Healing and physical wellbeing
Pranic Healing also recognises a relationship between the energy body and the physical body, with the aura and chakras understood to support the body's natural processes. Cleansing accumulated energy and projecting fresh prana into selected areas is intended to support the body's own capacity to maintain health and to recover.
The distinction matters: Pranic Healing does not replace allopathic medicine, medical diagnosis or treatment. If you have a physical illness, an injury or a medical concern, seek advice from a qualified physician, continue the treatment you have been given, and follow your healthcare provider's advice. Energy healing sits alongside that care, not in place of it.
What happens during a session
Every session varies with what the person needs. At Ellviour it generally involves:
- 1Discussing your current concerns or wellbeing goals
- 2Exploring relevant emotional, energetic or personal patterns
- 3Assessing the aura and selected chakras
- 4Cleansing accumulated or congested energy
- 5Energising selected areas with fresh prana where appropriate
- 6Guidance for reflection or ongoing wellbeing practices
Sessions are complementary, and they work best as part of a wider commitment to your own wellbeing. Chakra Balancing and the other healing services are available in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, or online from anywhere.

Common questions
- Is Chakra Healing the same as Pranic Healing?
- Not exactly. Chakra Healing is a broad term used across different traditions and by different practitioners. At Ellviour it is approached using the principles and techniques of Pranic Healing, which works with the aura, the chakras and the body's energy field.
- How many major chakras are there in Pranic Healing?
- The Pranic Healing system recognises eleven major chakras. Ellviour's free Chakra Assessment focuses on seven of them — the ones most useful for personal wellness reflection and self-awareness.
- Can Chakra Healing replace medical treatment?
- No. Chakra Healing and Pranic Healing are complementary approaches. They do not replace medical diagnosis, treatment, or advice from qualified healthcare professionals. If you have a physical health concern, consult a physician or an appropriate healthcare provider.
- Can Chakra Healing support emotional wellbeing?
- Some people use it as a complementary practice for emotional wellbeing, self-awareness and personal growth. From a Pranic Healing perspective, a practitioner may work with accumulated or congested energy associated with emotional experiences. It is not a replacement for clinical psychotherapy or professional mental-health treatment.
Pranic Healing is a complementary energy healing modality. It is not a medical treatment, and it does not replace medical diagnosis, medication, allopathic medicine or advice from qualified healthcare professionals.
If you have a physical illness, injury or medical concern, seek advice from a qualified physician and continue appropriate medical treatment. If you are experiencing significant emotional distress or mental-health concerns, please seek support from a qualified mental-health professional.
